Photo Friday: Single Snow Goose (and Lots More!)

A Single Snow Goose

For those that have been following my facebook page will have seen some Snow Geese photographs I have recently captured at Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge in Northwestern Missouri. Those images are glimpses into the massive numbers of geese currently at the refuge. Right now the number is hovering around 1 million birds which is an incredible experience – sights, sounds, and smell. In the next couple of days I hope to post a video that helps further capture this experience. Today, however, the first image above is a solitary snow goose which floated away from the group. I’m not sure what he was doing, but he seemed to like the seclusion and serenity of his little area of the refuge. In him I sense a kindred spirit, he definitely did not follow the rest of the flock, literally. Below I have a couple of the images that I’ve recently posted which contrasts today’s primary image.
