Early morning on the Great Sand Dunes after a stormy night brought clouds that reflected intense warm hues from the rising sun. I had envisaged a photograph like this at the sand dunes for over a year, capturing the the texture of the dunes, the sweeping lines that lead to the Sangre de Cristo mountains, with a brillant sunrise. - Colorado Photograph
As I photographed this scene, I almost imagined myself in a foreign land as the sun dipped below the horizon. The shapes of the dunes in this photo become abstract lines and patterns in the late dusk light. - Rockies Photograph
I was able to take only 3 photographs while the sun hit the mountain, for less than one minute the mountain glowed with a golden brillance at Lake Helene in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. The clouds on the eastern sky soon obscured the sun for a couple of hours, while small drops of rain fell around me. - Colorado Photograph
On a cool, autumn morning, silence reigned across the scenic Great Sand Dunes National Park, the quiet only occasionally broken by the sound of a breeze flowing through the dunes. On top of one of the larger dunes, I captured the patterns of the sand as the dunes drift into one another, creating a path to the distant Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
