Lily of the Evening<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In the late 19th century and early 20th century Teddy Roosevelt would ride all over the badlands of North Dakota. These lilies would catch his eye and enamored with their beauty he would write about them in his diary. Elegant and bursting with color, they dot the prairie growing on hillsides and plateaus throughout the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. On a warm evening with no breeze, I spent some time photographing these wild lilies, capturing the light filter through the petals as the sun hovered low on the horizon. I imagined how it must have been during Teddy Roosevelt\u2019s time to ride through this area and to take in the glory of the high plains landscape. For me, It was a peaceful evening of reflection surrounded by the beauty of these wildflowers and golden prairie grass.<\/p>\n
