On an early spring evening in western Iowa, I photographed the sun setting behind an abandoned rustic barn and homestead which illuminated the nearby budding tree. - Iowa Photography
Near sunset on a recently cut field, clouds form in the late evening above a row of hay bales in Eastern Nebraska near Memphis. - Nebraska Photography
As the sun sets at DeSoto Bend National Wildlife Refuge the sky seems to light on fire. This photograph was captured on a brisk, early spring evening, the remaining clouds streaked across the sky and reflected the colors of the setting sun. - Nebraska Photography
Just as the sun dipped below the horizon and I turned toward home, I found this country road that had been created through the grass. I stopped quickly and was only able to make a couple of exposures before the all the light was gone. - Nebraska Photography
This photograph captures the reflection of the sunset as the sun illuminates the leading edge of clouds at Frank Shoemaker Marsh near Lincoln, Nebraska, one of the few remaining homes of the endangered Salt Creek Tiger Beetle. - Nebraska Photography
Early morning rays illuminate the Badlands in Badlands National Park, South Dakota. Originally designated a National Monument, Badlands National Park was redesignated a National Park on November 10, 1978. - South Dakota Photography
The warm setting sun shines brightly across the frozen lake before dipping below the horizon. On a cold February evening in 2006 I ventured to DeSoto Wildlife Refuge looking to photograph the Bald Eagles that nest here in the winter. What I found was a gorgeous sunset. - The_Midwest Photography
A maple tree bursts forth into glorious autumn colors while the setting sun shines through the leaves. - Iowa Photography
Chimney Rock in western Nebraska was a beacon for early settlers. During the 19th century it served as a landmark along the Mormon Trail, Oregon Trail, and California Trail.
A vertical version of this photograph is available at Chimney Rock - Vertical. - Nebraska Photography

Rolling hills under big skies, marshes filled with a silence that is only broken for the occasional frog opera, and expansive prairies with grass that quivers with even the gentlest breeze, these are the defining natural areas of the Great Plains and Midwest Landscape. This collection of scenic photographs presents my images of this diverse landscape throughout the midwestern states of South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, and my home state, Nebraska.
