From the Archive: A Long’s Sunset (2008)

Long's Peak's western face glows with the last warm hues of sunset.
A Longs Sunset

I captured this image in 2008 when there was a beautiful sunset glow on Long’s Peak as it was surrounded by puffy clouds. Long’s Peak is the tallest peak in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado and an imposing presence on the eastern side of the park and from the tundra. As I reflect on this image, I remember wondering at the time what it would look to be standing on the top of this majestic 14’er witnessing this sunset. This thought stuck with me and it compelled me to climb this peak a few years later, a view that was just as grand as I imagined.
