Photo Friday: Big Dipper

On a clear night at Niobrara State Park the stars shone brightly above the Missouri River. In the reflection of the river the Big Dipper can be clearly seen.
Big Dipper

While I’m always in awe of nature, I love it when it surprises me. Last November on a clear night at Niobrara State Park, I situated myself on the bank of the Missouri River. As night fell, thousands of stars appeared above my head. However, in the water I noticed something special, the stars of the Big Dipper constellation (Ursa Major) were clearly visibly reflected. While other stars were visible, these stars appeared particularly bright. I particularly enjoyed the solitude on this evening and the scene that nature presented.
