Some of My Favorite Spring Images

Pyramid Lake Sunrise
Pyramid Lake Sunrise

Beautiful Pyramid Lake in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. I captured this image on a still morning in the spring of 2007. Just before I captured this image a beaver went across the lake just before me momentarily disrupting the reflection. It was just him and me on that cool morning.

Agate's Angry Sunset
Agate’s Angry Sunset

On a stormy May evening I sat atop this rocky outcropping at Agate Fossil Beds National Monument in western Nebraska. I got rained on several times as I waited out this storm hoping it would clear near sunset. Nature did not disappoint.

Springtime Illumination

On a beautiful April evening I headed to Two Rivers State Park in Nebraska to photograph a den of fox kits. The foxes never appeared, but I couldn’t pass up this scene. The leaves were just sprouting giving an almost neon green glow in the setting sun.

Dawn Over the Sandhills

On a late May morning I was visiting Crescent Lake National Wildlife Refuge. I spent some time photographing this windmill as songbirds chirped nearby and ducks quacked in the distance.

Breakthrough

On a memorial day a few years ago I headed to Ponca State Park in northeastern Nebraska to photograph the Missouri River. As I walked along the bank a fog was rising from the water. The rising sun glowed through grove of cottonwoods across the channel hitting the fog. I felt a quiet peace that morning.

Storms Passing
Storms Passing

A fierce thunderstorm raged across eastern Nebraska on a late spring day. As the clouds moved east the sun set causing the landscape to be bathed in a warm red glow. What came next was equally as beautiful…

An intense rainbow on the Missouri River floodplain.

Small World

Sometimes the most beautiful scenes are those that require us to look closely. This snail crawled upon this mushroom at Schramm State Park. Down on my elbows and knees in the moist dirt I clicked only about three images before the camera shy snail was off on his slow journey.

An Iowa Evening
An Iowa Evening

Taken in the spring of 2006, this image still remains one of my favorite. The tree seems almost like a paintbrush painting the sky with the beautiful clouds as the sun set behind this barn near Little Sioux, Iowa.

Follow the Mommy
Follow the Mommy

Who doesn’t love goslings? This line of little ones followed their mommy all over the ponds at Schramm on a warm spring evening.

Purple Forest
Purple Forest

Dames rockets take off in the valleys of Schramm State Park bringing an intense purple color and fragrant smell to the area. I can still smell the flowers…

Solitude

Solitude.

Through The Flow
Through The Flow

The sound of the gorgeous Six Finger falls in Arkansas still runs through my mind when I view this image. Its peaceful sound almost lulls me to sleep.
