Photo Friday: Prints on the Shore

Pawprints from a racoon are illuminated on the shore as the sun rises over the Missouri River at Ponca State Park in northeastern Nebraska.
Prints on the Shore

Before sunrise on the last day on my trip last month to Ponca State Park I decided to take a walk along the shore of the Missouri River. It was a crisp morning and the clouds were rolling through quickly. I bundled up and moved quickly to keep the blood flowing. As I passed a small tributary I decided to further explore at the little inlet. There I found fresh raccoon tracks in the sand near the water. It appeared the little critter had made his way down to the water and then walked along the shore for a bit. Probably out to get some water or maybe a bit of fresh air. As the sun began to rise I decided that I needed to get this detail into my composition to show the life near the river.
